Shatter Delusions Spike
Why hasn't it been done?
[skill]Shatter Delusions[/skill]
at 11 domination magic, 8 mesmers can deal 472 damage using this skill alone.
This bypasses both prot spirit and spirit bond since each cast deals 59 damage.
So, just hit the target with [skill]Soul Barbs[/skill] as well as 8 mesmer hexes, and as long as one of those hexes was [skill]Phantom Pain[/skill], there's almost no way to survive.
Naturally everyone would also have other roles, which could be enhanced by fast casting.

8 people to do 472 dmg is not enough time to kill 8 targets attacking...

Getting 8 different mesmer hexes onto a target isnt as easy as it sounds. As well as this, i dont think there is a bigger
"WATCH ME IM GETTING SPIKED" giveaway then that. 472 + deep wound = 572... most people have 600+hp, also, and smart monk would rof right before the spike so that there goes 59 damage.
Basically wont kill, and yet takes up both primary (and/or secondary) for the spike, as well as a third of the total attributes of the party.
Summ Up:
Not enough damage
BIG Give away
Limits other options
With 1 dead, will always definately fail

Lets work on our math a bit...
Shatter Delusion 59 * 8 = 472
Soul Barbs 27 * 8 = 216
Together, that's 688 damage.
Say our target has 600 hp, with deepwound, he's knocked down to 500.
500 - 688 = -188
So, no RoF in the world is going to save you.
Additionally, after the give away, (Soul Barbs), there would theoretically be about a second and a half for someone to save the target with a massive heal. Even then, it might just be useless considering that done right, the spike itself occurs in under 1/2 of a second.
Now lets consider the utility that these mesmers have since every one of them has their elite slot open...
Edit: Since when is 61 1/3 of 200?

Loving the arguement.
Hell, you could drop one of the mesmers for a monk if you wanted to and still do 608 damage + DW in the spike.

I'm not too familiar with PvP, but using 8 mesmers to spike kill one target isn't going to do much. I mean, what are you going to do to the other team members when your main spike is recharging?

HA is about balance. Total offense, or defense = phail. Even a spike should have a balance, and always does. What you are suggesting is a complete offense, with no defense stratagy. Like said before, even if you could get one or two spikes off...the team would be dead very quickly.

They see barbs go up, they pop up hex removal. Barbs is probably gone before most of the hexes are up. They rof, bang ur spikes dead. Yes it CAN work, but it requires braindead foes. In that case, y not run 8 HH wammos... same result, same efficiency.

[[phantom pain] + [[shatter delusions] has been in many many casterspikes.
Just don't do more of these than 1. I would add [[overload] for a fast aftercast, and take [[mantra of recovery] as elite.

a) With 8 squishies you'll be dead before you can pull off the first spike.
b) The damage output is barely enough to score a kill granted noone interrupt even 1 of your mesmers. Condition a) must be met.
c) The spike is easily given away by soul barbs/phantom pain. You have all the time to prot the target (rof) and nullify the spike. Conditions a) and b) must be met.
d) Mesmers will be out of energy after 1st spike anyway considering they would have to heal party somehow.
It's just a bad build, face it.
